Where’s the best place to take a baby shark? To the beach, of course! Meet Owen, a 6 month old puppy who recently traded his kennel for a Hawaiian shirt and a Dog Day Out adventure.Owen is in his puppy era, which means he’s curious, playful, and still learning what belongs in his mouth. There may be a little chewing and occasional counter surfing along the way, but at 6 months old, he’s still figuring out how the world works.He was a fantastic car companion. After a little flopping around and a nibble on the car hammock zipper, he settled in and was quiet for the entire 45 minute ride to the dog beach.Once there, Owen showed off his beautiful leash manners, walking right beside his handler without pulling or constantly trying to get ahead. He calmly passed people and other dogs, showing curiosity without reacting.He walked into the water, climbed rocks, and absolutely loved playing fetch with a stick in the water. At lunch, he made his preferences clear: cucumbers and watermelon were a no, but the sandwich got his full approval. After the sand was hosed off, Owen was ready for a nap and slept the entire ride home.Owen is still a baby and is ready to learn basic obedience and housetraining. He needs someone committed to positive reinforcement, who understands that puppies need patience, guidance, enrichment, and plenty of appropriate things to chew.He’s playful. He’s curious. He’s eager to explore. He’s still learning.
